It's more than just a Salon and Med spa

Opening a salon has always been a dream of mine. I started working at a local hair salon and set the goal for myself to have one of my own someday— and I finally did it! I chose the name VANSTONE in remembrance of my late grandfather. His name was Van Buren and has always been inspirational in my life. I also named my son after him, so to have my salon named after two important figures in my life is incredibly special to me.

I have been passionate about hair since I was just a little girl with my Barbie dolls.  My family was in the field of cosmetics and photography when I was growing up, so I was raised on how to make somebody look and feel better. After high school, I went to cosmetology school and fell even more in love with becoming a stylist. I’ve even traveled to places like St. Louis and discovered the hair show culture there, and it inspired me even further. There was nothing better than having that one-on-one conversation with somebody and finding out a little bit about their life and learning that what they have on the inside can be presented on the outside with their hair.

This salon is a reflection of my journey, my family legacy, and my unwavering faith. I have Isaiah 41:10’s words on our graffiti wall. It reads, “I will lift you with my righteous right hand. So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.” When I had this building, the numbers “4” and “1” and “X” (10) were already etched into the wall. I didn’t pick those numbers; they were already there! This assured me that I was born to do this.

This is more than just a business this is a dream being lived through the passion of our people.
